How to Set Up Remote Desktop and Fix Connection Errors

Remote Desktop may fail to connect due to permission, firewall, or network issues.

Step-by-Step Solution 

Step 1: Enable Remote Desktop 

  • Open Settings → System → Remote Desktop 
  • Toggle Enable Remote Desktop to On 

 

Step 2: Allow User Access 

  • Click Select users that can remotely access this PC 
  • Add your user account 

 

Step 3: Allow Through Firewall 

  • Open Windows Security → Firewall & network protection 
  • Click Allow an app through firewall 
  • Ensure Remote Desktop is allowed 

 

Step 4: Test Connection
